Are you ready, willing and able? Then show me!

May 08, 2013 By: Ron Coleman Category: Email Marketing, Getting business to come to you, Marketing, blogging

For your marketing to work, you need your prospective clients to know that you are ready, willing and able to service their needs.  The challenge here, is that many small business owners only demonstrate 2 out of those 3 requirements.

Here’s what I see time and again with small business marketing:

  1. I know you are ready to attract more clients, because you are marketing your services to me.
  2. I know you are willing to work with me, because you have targeted me with a marketing message expressing your willingness.
  3. I have no idea if you are able, though!

Yes, you have testimonials on your website but so do all your competitors.  These testimonials provide me with little real insight as to your ability, because we all know they are usually written by the best case clients; so not as representative as I need them to be.

I see you have some badges on your website, brochure or letter head, but they mean nothing to me.  I’m not an expert in your industry and have no idea if they have any credibility.  Even if they are credible, I am likely to see them on your competitors sites and marketing materials too.  In other words, I still know zero about your knowledge or skills.

Show me

So, if you want me to find out how awesome you are, show me!

Start writing blog posts or newsletter articles, which demonstrate your knowledge to me.  Show me what you know and how valuable your information is.  Use your marketing messages to deliver information to me that has value; something I can use rather than just a sales pitch.  Educate me.  Cause me to position you in my mind as an expert in your field and the logical person to call, when I need paid-for help from someone in your industry.

Show your prospective clients that you are ready, willing and able.

The good news? Very, very few of your competitors are doing this right now!

How to get your prospective client’s attention

May 01, 2013 By: Ron Coleman Category: General Business, Getting business to come to you, Marketing, Networking

If you want to earn the attention of your marketplace, you need to give them something important to focus on.  Here’s the thing.  They will only focus on what’s important to them, not what’s important to you.

A lot of marketing tends to do the complete opposite and focus on the provider, rather than the prospective client.  We see lots of broadcasting about how great they are, how great their service is yet very little emphasis placed on solving the specific challenges facing their prospective clients.

That’s the wrong balance.

Earned attention

Broadcasting your special offers will never earn you the attention of your marketplace.  The key word there is earn.  You earn people’s attention by delivering them-focused information – Information that is all about helping them.  My focus here, for example, is to deliver as much useful marketing and business development information to as many small business owners as possible.  I don’t write post after post about me and what I want from MY business.  I know that people come here for answers and ideas, so that’s what I work hard to provide.

By focusing on the needs of my readers, you connect with me and allow me to be a part of their business development.  A subset of you will hire me, without me emailing you with “special offers”.  There’s real magic there.

How can you earn the attention of your marketplace?

Give! Give them as much genuinely useful information and help as you can.  Then give them even more.  Help them solve problems, so they learn to regard (position) you as the go-to person in your industry.  This takes time rather than money; creativity rather than force.  Connect with people.  Educate, don’t sell.

Get this process right and it changes everything.  You start attracting qualified, high quality inquiries from people who already know you are a specialist in your field.  It’s one of the most enjoyable, profitable and professional ways to grow a business.

Reaching out

What do you currently do, which reaches out to your prospective clients and helps them?  What could you be doing to reach them and connect?

Two Ways To Increase Your Sales Overnight

Two Ways To Increase Your Sales Overnight

If you are planning to build up your own business, you have to be ready for the challenges that you have to face.

Knowing that the business industries nowadays are growing larger, competition between different businesses are getting tougher.

The virtual world is not an exception to this. So if you have an online business, you have to come up with ways that you can generate more sales than your competitors.

Once you’re successful in establishing your own business online, you should move on to coming up with ways on how to increase your sales overnight.

Offer After A Purchase

Do you know that offering your customers more after a purchase can be a good way to double your sales overnight? And why is that so?

Think about it. When your customer just got done with a purchase, he or she is still in the mood of shopping which is a good time for you to offer more products and services related to what has just been availed of.

That said, don’t just leave your customers to a closing thank you page after their initial purchase, but rather a page that contains some of the best deals that they can take advantage of.

Offer Discounted Items

Once you have your product lines updated, chances are you will just leave your old products behind and focus more on what’s new. Well, that’s a wrong move.

Your old product line can actually be your biggest income makers while you’re still on the process of featuring your new ones.

As a tip, have a category tagged as “discounted offers” on your web page which basically contains older versions of what you’re offering your audience.

As you may know, there will always be people who will seek for economic materials regardless of oldness as long as quality and functionality standards are still met.

That is true and to make that strategy even better, encourage your customers by having those discounted items on a limited period. You will surely have a booming sales increase overnight.

Attract more clients and customers with these 5 simple steps!

January 16, 2013 By: Ron Coleman Category: General Business, Getting business to come to you, Marketing

Here’s a quick tip, which can help you quickly improve your marketing results.

1.            Think of the last 5 purchases you made that is about the same amount of your products or services that you sell.

2.            Now, what are the name the companies (or people) that you made those purchases from.

3.            How did you found those companies? (Word of mouth, search engines, advertising etc.)

4.            What is it that made you decide to spend your money with them, rather than someone else?

5.            Write your answers down!

This simple exercise gives you a glimpse into how other companies are successfully making sales, in your price range.

Is there anything those 5 vendors did that was common to 2 or more of them, but which you don’t currently do?  If so, pay attention to those things!

Why go to this effort?  This exercise can help you spot elements missing from your own marketing, which were powerful enough to convert you into a customer.

AND… since your 5 examples will probably have been from outside your own industry, if you do spot something they are doing, it’s possible your competitors won’t be doing it, making it even more powerful for you.

It`s your business; so it’s your choice

January 08, 2013 By: Ron Coleman Category: Email Marketing, General Business, Getting business to come to you, Marketing, Networking, SEO, Website Design, blogging

IS YOUR BUSINESS MAKING THE PROGRESS YOU WANT???

If not you might want to consider this:

  • If the engine in your car stops working on the highway today, will you push your car everywhere you want to go?  NO! You need to fix your car’s engine.
  • If your business is not generating the inquiries and business you need, the solution is not to push more ineffective marketing onto people. You need to fix your marketing engine!

Most small businesses owners I meet are marketing by doing the wrong things very poorly.

Some are marketing by doing wrong things quite well.

And some are superstars when it comes to doing marketing all wrong!

For example, they fail to get the results they want from networking, blogging, email marketing, their website etc, so they do more and more of it; often copying others who are in just as big a mess as they are.

It’s your choice

You need to break free from doing marketing wrong.  It is throwing money out the window!

You need to know what the right marketing is for your business and then how to use it correctly.

Thankfully, it’s always your choice.

Whenever you choose, you can get the help you need and stop wasting your time and money.

IS YOUR BLOG ON YOUR WEBSITE???

January 07, 2013 By: Ron Coleman Category: General Business, Getting business to come to you, Marketing, SEO, Website Design, blogging

The biggest mistake we see website owners make is in the utilization of “free services” to host your blog. These services are offered by many blog software companies as a lost-leader to gain your information and to sell you services!

The best way to get the full benefit of your blog is to include the blog on your own website, under your own domain name!!!

Of course, there are some benefits if the blog has a link to your website. But, why not get the full benefit by having the blog on your own website? Additionally, links to different IP Addresses can cause confusion to clients or prospects or may never be utilized, ensuring loss of your time, efforts and revenues!!!

The two biggest benefits of having a blog on your own domain are:

  1. New content is added to your website on a regular basis. If your blog is someplace else, that other website gets credit for the updates, not your website. So if your blog is on another site (i.e. Wordpress, blogspot, etc), there will be no new content added to your site.
  2. Your website gets credit for the traffic coming to your blog to read it. Instead of the credit going to the other website, not yours.

Because my blog is on my website (www.GlobalMarketingPlus.com/blog), Google visits my website more often because it sees new content added on a regular basis!

Blogging software can be easily installed on your own website. If you need help installing blogging software on your server, or if you want your blog designed to match your website, call us at 801-298-2336 and we can help you!!!

SEO Basics That You Need To Understand

November 03, 2012 By: Ron Coleman Category: Marketing, SEO, Website Design, blogging

Understanding SEO basics is vital to ensure that you know how the search engines like Google and Yahoo Search work.

When you know how they work, you’ll be able to get your websites, web 2.0 webpages, and all sorts of articles online ranking high on Google.

One of the first things you need to know is that Google ranks websites based on what they scan through whenever they visit a site.

So, if they see a website that has the word “get rid of pimples today” all over the site, Google will basically try to put that website on the search engines for that specific keyword.

This is to ensure that those who want help or information in this area will see your article, as Google only wants to help people find what they really need.

Of course, even if your site says all of the keywords over and over again, if there aren’t any backlinks generated for the site, you won’t see the site climbing up the rankings. This is called off-page optimization.

You need to make sure that you have other websites linking back to your site. Google only wants to rank high quality, authority level websites that are popular online.

How do you get your site to be popular and authority level in Google’s eye? By having other sites linking back to yours.

This can be done by leaving your URL on other blog networks, leaving your URL on Yahoo Answers, writing articles online and putting your URL at the bottom, along with many other kinds of ways.

In addition, you need to make sure your page is optimized for search engines. This is called on-page optimization. Your web page title, description, and keywords should include your main keywords/key phrases you’re targeting.

Now that you know how it works, start broadening your understanding on the topic of SEO. But be wary of some tips you read about online. We have seen so-called professionals and articles on SEO that promote old ideas that have been ruled as “Black Hat” SEO by search engines long ago and will get your website banned. The safest way to get your website to the top of search engines is to use a professional copmpany that knows the right tools to use!

Also, make sure you use a professional to build your website. Too often we see websites that break the rules while being built and either cannot move to the top or end up being banned by Google!

3 Benefits of Redesigning Your Business Website

November 02, 2012 By: Ron Coleman Category: Marketing, SEO, Website Design

The benefits of overhauling your business website are more than just cosmetic. Making changes to your site’s design, structure, and copywriting can help to improve your bottom line.

Here are some of the main benefits of working with your webmaster on a website redesign.

  1. Increased Client Return Rate
To make you website more effective, you need to have a reason to bring people back again and again. If your visitor comes to your website and there are no changes since the last time they came, they will leave and see no reason to return. However, if you regularly provide new and important content, they will want to come back time and again to make sure they do not miss anything important. The easiest way to accomplish making updates often is with a blog.Once you are adding content on a regular basis, you need to think about changing your overall look of your website to keep it interesting. In our focus group last month, we learned that the on average, people would like a new, fresh look at least every 6 months to a year. If the look isn’t changed in that time, people will stop coming back to your website!
  2. Increased Conversion Rates
The purpose of a business website is to encourage visitors to take an action, such as calling you, sharing their information, or making a purchase. Many business websites unintentionally bury the most important information, like a contact channel or call-to-action, in hard-to-find places. An expert web design firm can ensure that it is as simple as possible for visitors to find important information and take a desired action. This can improve your lead generation, foot traffic, and sales!
  3. Better Branding
Poorly designed websites don’t just drive away potential customers; they also make your business look unprofessional. Just as you would take care to design a logo that matches your company’s personality, you should take steps to coordinate your website design with other branding and marketing initiatives. Coherent design across your website, logo, and signage conveys professionalism and attention to detail.
  4. Improved SEO
Search engine optimization (SEO) is a web design strategy to help your business show up in results on Google and other search engines. Working with a web design firm, your business can come up with a list of keywords that relate back your services and location—for example “Cosmetic Dentistry in Tucson.” A successful website design will incorporate keywords in the copywriting and site structure. This kind of site design helps to capture more customers searching for your business online, and drives those customers to your site.Google and other search engines also like to see changes to your website often! If you have not made significant changes to one or more pages during the past 30 days, you are more than likely moving DOWN in the ranking in the search engines!

3 Mistakes To Avoid In Internet Marketing

November 02, 2012 By: Ron Coleman Category: Email Marketing, General Business, Marketing, Networking, SEO, Website Design, blogging

When it comes to internet marketing, there are things that you simply need to avoid so that you will not waste your time. Unfortunately, these are very common mistakes and if you are able to avoid these, you will be able to have an edge on your competition. If you are serious about being a successful internet marketer, then you need to focus on these mistakes and to remember to avoid them.

Not having a niche

Making your presence known online is all about having a niche. If you fail to choose a good niche, you will never be able to really succeed. This is because the internet already has a lot of competition and so you need to find a niche where you can excel and actually get traffic to your site.

Rushing the process

Too many people simply try to get overnight success and this is not going to happen. If you are serious about being able to succeed in any aspect of life, rushing things will only make things worse. You need to take it slow and focus on long term success. Once you realize that patience really is a virtue, you will see that your online journey will only get better.

No originality

The internet has a lot of content and so you can’t be a copy of other things. You will need to be original and have your own style on the internet. Once you are able to do this, there is no stopping you from succeeding.

If you are able to avoid these simple things, you will be able to really make your presence known on the internet. Most people will admit that these are the simplest mistakes to create and if you avoid these from the very beginning, you will be able to really prosper online.
